I Am His

In my almost 40 years, I’ve had many identities placed upon me…Student, Athlete, Waitress, Accountant, Daughter, Granddaughter, Coworker, Friend, Girlfriend, Wife, Mom. Each new role brought learning what’s expected of me, how to meet others’ needs, how to succeed. Some identities ended with a season of life, and some were sadly stripped away with deaths or broken relationships.

The one role that will forever be constant is that I am God’s daughter. I was baptized and marked forever as God’s child. This is an incredible gift, and something I lost sight of for so long. I am beloved. I am welcome and part of God’s family. Nothing can take away that truth. Shouldn’t claiming this identity and understanding it be essential?

I am asking for God’s help in this. I believe this is His desire for every person, and it is revealed uniquely in each one’s story.

Poppa, you call me yours. I belong to you. You created me in your image, in your likeness. And you are a good Father, a Father I can always trust. Send your Spirit and your surpassing power to bear witness with my spirit that I am your daughter. Help me slow down, and teach me to live as your daughter, not as an orphan. May I learn how to rest, how to find my worth in you, and how to receive your love. Restore my identity. I pray the same for my children. Thanks, I am so beyond grateful. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

“See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.” 1 John 3:1
