Lent Day 40 – Holy Saturday: Today I battle for anyone who doesn’t believe in Jesus.

Jesus, it’s been a powerful 40 days of prayer. I live in great anticipation of witnessing God’s glory as my life unfolds.
Jesus, after the retelling of your death on the cross yesterday, today is always interesting to contemplate. What was this Saturday like for the disciples and your mother after witnessing your gruesome murder?
The only description in the Bible I could find to summarize Saturday was in Mark 16:10, when Mary Magdalene went to the disciples, who were grieving and weeping. Sometimes life just seems to pause.
I am grateful I know the end of the story on Sunday…or maybe it’s considered the beginning of the next story for the disciples.
I think this makes the difference when we believe in Jesus…we live in the hope and the anticipation of witnessing God’s glory. It doesn’t mean it’s not really hard. Even with all my ups and downs of emotions, I do live with an underlying trust that Sunday is coming. The resurrection comes as Jesus said it would. Death has been defeated and Jesus is the victor.
So Jesus, in this last day of Lent 2025, I pray for everyone who doesn’t believe in you. I will battle for them with all my heart. Come Holy Spirit upon them. Stir curiosity and wonder within them. Give them eyes to see you from a new perspective. Cross their paths with someone who loves greatly and believes in you. May your love overwhelm them. I pray especially for J, S, P, C, and J to know you with great joy.
Please God, awaken your people to invite and to pray and to love boldly. Thank you Jesus, I love you. I pray in your name, Amen.
