Lent Day 33: Today I battle for a heart of service

“The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields.” Matthew 9: 37-38

Jesus, following you is the greatest of gifts. The work you have asked of me I would describe as sometimes life-building, and other times as life-giving, and I thank you for letting me be part of your work on earth.

Father God, I want to ask just what Jesus said – please send more workers into your fields. May they find life-building or life-giving service experiences. May those who have been hurt or taken advantage of find healing and new direction of where you’re calling them in their ordinary lives.

Holy Spirit, awaken your people. Fuel compassion in our hearts. Give us eyes to see those in need, and ears to hear your voice. May we be willing and available.

Father God, I ask that the Holy Spirit fan into flames the gifts we’ve been given for your glory. Everything we have is because of you, and I ask that we give as freely as we have received. Help us develop and strengthen our gifts, and may we give as freely as we have received.

Speak to us Lord, may we not miss you in our midst. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
