Awakening

Lent Day 26: Today I battle for awakening

“Jesus went inside and asked, “Why all this commotion and weeping? The child isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.”…Holding her hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means “Little girl, get up!”” Mark 5: 39, 41

Jesus, you know it comes back to me often – when I heard the description of Christians in our country as being under a “satanic lullaby”. Maybe we’re so sure we’re “doing it right” or “have all the answers” that we stop wondering or stop being curious? Maybe we’re stuck in our lifestyle or our money or our sin? Jesus, what do you see? Maybe this “satanic lullaby” is an inaccurate portrayal, I don’t know, but I do know it encourages me to ask you to make sure we’re living awake in your light.

Yes Jesus, may we want what you want. May our desires be aligned with yours. Awaken your people! May we arise to the place of dignity and goodness that you call us to.

Jesus, maybe my heart is praying for an ideal church, maybe this is unrealistic in a broken world with broken people, but I just want to ask the God of the Universe because you tell me I can. I want to believe that our church as a whole wants what you want, and seeks to bring glory to God in everything it does. I want to believe that we seek to be aligned with the Good Father’s heart. Please awaken me, awaken your people!

Holy Spirit, may we seek purity of heart. Give us eyes to see ourselves how you see us and eyes to see others how you see them. Your generous love is compelling, it draws us close and satisfies. Awaken us in your love and mercy.

Jesus, You are the vine and we are the branches – we are one, you are so close – may we live like this is true! Thank you! I pray in your name, Jesus, Amen.
