Lent Day 21: Today I battle for healing.

Jesus, I do enjoy trying to piece together how you want me to pray each day. You know my mind that loves puzzles and strategy games so well. Sometimes it’s surprising what breaks our hearts, because you look around and ask, “Why doesn’t anyone else care about this?!” And then I realize it’s our own unique calling on our life to care, to fight for, to love. Thank you Jesus for awakening our hearts so personally to care about the things you care about.
Father God, you are a God of rescue and healing. You are the good Physician. This is such a broad prayer today because I know we all need different kinds of healing, but I hear you asking me to pray for the healing that the best doctors can’t always touch.
My heart is drawn towards those who experience catastrophic events, that the pain and anger carries from one generation to the next. I think especially of slavery, terrorism, and war right now, but you know of so much more. Lord God, would you move in their lives. Pour out your salvific balm upon their wounds. Heal them Lord. Make all things new. Amen.
My heart is drawn towards those who believed lies in their childhood. Lies that told them they weren’t wanted, or that they were never going to be enough. Lies that told them their worth was only based on their looks or their performance. Lord God, would you move in their lives. Pour out your salvific truth upon them and wash the lies out of their minds and hearts. Heal them Lord. Make all things new. Amen.
My heart is drawn towards those who were hurt by the church or any people who were supposed to be a safe place. Lord God, would you move in their lives. Pour out your salvific love that understands the pain and betrayal they feel, and please heal them Lord. Make all things new. Amen.
My heart is drawn towards those with addictions, which tend to result from numbing other pains or stresses in their lives. You see them, you know them. Cross their paths with someone who can help them. Lord God, would you move in their lives. Pour out your salvific healing and love. May they believe in your love for them. Give them eyes to see how you see. Heal them Lord. Make all things new. Amen.
May all healing be for your glory, Lord. Your beautiful creation, your beautiful children, healed and praising you. Move amongst us Lord. Heal our land. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
