Lent Day 17: Today I battle for those who are grieving

Lord, you know part of life is having seasons of lament. We lament and grieve the people or things lost. I have found myself crying through Lamentations 3 in the past, where you met me in my grief and allowed me to express and sit in my sadness and despair.
“I cry out, “My splendor is gone! Everything I had hoped for from the Lord is lost…” I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss.” Lam 3:18, 20
Father God, those who grieve are on my heart today. There’s no one but you whom we can turn to. I ask you to turn your compassionate eyes toward them, Lord. Meet them in their pain and sorrow. May they find you weeping with them in their grief.
May Jesus be their anchor during this storm.
May your love redeem the ashes and pain. Restore the light in their eyes.
Holy Spirit, fill them with hope as you hold them close. Teach us to live with an eternal perspective. Thank you Lord. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
