Lent Day 14: Today I battle for the outcast.

Father God, I feel your heart seeking anyone who feels like they don’t belong, who feels lonely, or who feels not good enough. So many times I have felt like the outcast, and again and again you invited me to come to you, and you revived my soul in your love.
I hope people feel safe to come to you, Father. I’ve had my own experiences when people misrepresented you, but I have found in the quiet…when it’s me looking at you and you looking at me…I know that I belong to you and I am precious to you. You are fighting for me to know what is true.
“Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink.” Is. 55:1
“For I will pour out water to quench your thirst and to irrigate your parched fields.” Is. 44:3
Father God, you know the people I’m praying for today. You see them. You know the pain they feel and the scars they hide. Pour out your gentleness on them today. May they hear your invitation. May they take a step toward you, big or small. You are the wellspring of living water, the wellspring of life. May they believe that you see them, you know them, and you love them forever.
Jesus, you spent all of your time with “outcasts” and you loved them. I wish I could have seen what that was like for you. I ask you to open my eyes to see those who need your love. Give me courage to bring others your presence, your kindness and compassion. Open my eyes, soften my heart to radically love the ones you love. I pray in your name, Amen.
