Apathy

Lent Day 10: Today I battle apathy.

Lord, I am tired. I’m out of my routine after a week of spring break, and part of me wants to not battle today. But then I looked through the book of Jeremiah and read through an underlined verse 34:

“But the one who redeems them is strong. His name is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. He will defend them and give them rest again in Israel.”

I’d written a note next to it: “See how God fights for us!”

Father God, you know that my fighting spirit is diminished right now. So I ask you to help me not grow apathetic or numb to the needs of those around me, or those who need prayers. Restore my strength. Thank you for fighting for us, and I surrender the battles of my mind and heart to you. I rest in your arms – but bring back my passionate spirit! You’re the best and I trust in you. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
