Lent Day 6: Today I battle for my kids and their generation
Jesus, thank you for the gift of scripture to form my heart and to guide me in how to pray. I am amazed by the young Daniel in the Bible, and as I think of how you formed him and his faithfulness to you, I am inspired to pray for my kids and their generation in alignment with what I see in Daniel.

Daniel 1:8 “But Daniel was determined not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to them by the [Babylonian] king.”
Jesus, could my kids and their generation see themselves as chosen and set apart by you. May they live firmly in honor of you, Lord. May they be disciplined and obedient. May they be in places of influence to build your kingdom and point others to you.
Daniel 1:17 “God gave these four young men an unusual aptitude for understanding every aspect of literature and wisdom. And God gave Daniel the special ability to interpret the meanings of visions and dreams.”
Holy Spirit, please give my kids and their generation an unusual aptitude and desire for understanding scripture and wisdom. As you give them gifts, may they humbly use them for God’s glory, to love others, and to build up God’s kingdom on earth.
Daniel 3:12 [The servants to the Babylonian king:] “but there are some Jews – Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego – whom you have put in charge of the province of Babylon. They pay no attention to you, your Majesty. They refuse to serve your gods and do not worship the gold statue you have set up.”
Father God, I ask that my kids and their generation may have faithful friends who love you, too. May they study your Word and pray with their friends. May they build each other up and be united in mission for Christ.
Daniel 6:10-11 “But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God. Then the officials went together to Daniel’s house and found him praying and asking for God’s help.”
Lord, teach my kids and their generation to pray. May they learn praise and thanksgiving, repentance, asking and yielding in surrender to you. May they have eyes to see and ears to hear. May they know who you are and passionately pray in alignment with your heart.
Thank you Lord for hearing me. Thank you for my kids and their generation. I believe you love them, you are forming them, and you are guiding them every step of their lives. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
