Lent Day 5: Today I Battle for Courage
Father God, courage comes because I know who you are. I believe you’ll always love me, always take care of me, always provide what I truly need, always lift me up. You’ve proven time and time again that You are faithful and good.

Lord, your presence invokes a response. This morning I’m drawn to Peter’s response to Jesus when they first met.
From Luke 5 – “When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, “Oh, Lord, please leave me—I’m such a sinful man.”
Jesus replied to Simon, “Don’t be afraid! From now on you’ll be fishing for people!” And as soon as they landed, they left everything and followed Jesus.“
“Don’t be afraid!” Lord, today I pray for myself and for your people to make a next faithful step in courage and boldness. There are so many examples of courage in the Bible, and today I think about Peter’s courage to follow Jesus. If he would have said no, he wouldn’t have participated in the great adventure and joy of being with Jesus and later being filled with the Holy Spirit.
May we live with courage, Lord. Reveal yourself more and more, and as we know you, may we be bold to live courageously because we have a very BIG God.
Holy Spirit, we need your guidance, wisdom and courage, to step out of our comfort zones. May we be aware of the needs of those around us – give us eyes to see the one you’ve called us towards. The one you love who needs to know they’re seen. The one you love who needs to know you care. Thank you for letting me ask. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
