My friend gave me a prayer that included this line: “Allow me a glimpse, give me a hint, of what is really going on around me.”
Do you ever wonder about this? To realize that what you perceive to be happening is not what is actually going on. I need this reminder sometimes, or else I fall into this false comfort that everyone is doing fine. Or I put poor assumptions on someone who may need some kindness or someone to listen to them.
The truth can be painful, but at least it is real. As things are brought to light, we can be put in a position for God to work through us. And we believe God supplies us with all we need for the work He’s called us to.
Father God, may I be humble. Align my perceptions with what you see. Holy Spirit, fill me with what’s true. Awaken me from illusions or from going through the motions. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
