One of my favorite explanations for prayer I heard lately was this: “Turn your monologue into a dialogue.”
So take the thoughts going through your mind, and instead of just continuing the stream of thoughts, tell Jesus them.
Turn “This is hard, I don’t know how to help her.” into “Jesus, this is hard, I don’t know how to help her.”
Turn “I feel great, this is such a beautiful walk.” into “Jesus, I feel great, this is such a beautiful walk.”
Turn “That was a lousy day.” into “Jesus, that was a lousy day.”
Just talk to Jesus like you talk to a friend.
This sounds so simple, but sometimes we need to be reminded that He asks us for childlike faith. My kids don’t prepare what they’re going to say, they just tell me what’s on their mind and heart. We are so blessed to get to do that with Jesus.
I promise He’s listening to you. He wants to walk through this life with you. He wants you to feel connected to Him, close to Him, through all the ups and downs.
I praise you God for the intimacy and closeness you desire with us. Thank you for listening to me and being my friend.
