On Easter morning, we heard in John 20 that Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning. I imagine her heartbreak, feeling a little lost, wanting to be near Jesus in some way. She was seeking closeness, comfort, in her despair. When she finds the stone removed from the tomb, she runs to tell Peter and John. As they find out, they also run to the tomb, seeking the truth, seeking Jesus.
Where am I running this week? Who or what am I seeking?
How is God inviting me to seek Him today?
Who will I run alongside, seeking the Lord together?
Seeking the Lord sounds intentional. Seeking Him throughout, from the beginning to end, in the quiet and the noise, in the happy and the sad, in the mundane and the extraordinary. What an invitation!
Jesus, like your apostles, I remember how you spoke to me, how you looked at me, how you loved me. I run to you, I seek you. Show me what it looks like to seek you today. Speak to me, look at me, love me. I seek you as I continue this journey closer to you, closer to home. I seek your face. May this fire in my heart stay ablaze. Thank you Jesus, you are my delight, my hope, my refuge. Amen.
This is where I rest…in this moment…seeking the Lord’s face. What a kind and generous invitation.
“Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6
