I keep staring at these trees out my window. They remind me that I want my motherhood, my family to already be beautiful, bearing lovely green leaves, flowers, fruit, but I’m realizing that’s not where our family is at right now.
I felt like God whispered to me, “Slow down. I’m still working on the roots.” The fruit and beauty takes time, and when it comes, it will be because we spent this time now strengthening our roots in God’s love.
Father God, I believe in your perfect timing to make things grow. I surrender my family to you, I surrender expectations to you. We invite you to write the story for us. May we be attune to your voice and your heart. I trust you carefully designed the dynamic of our family, so that one day we may flourish and join you home at last. May our roots grow down in your love and keep us strong. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
