When waves of loneliness hit, or feelings of being misunderstood, I often go back to the same story in the gospel of Luke 8:40-48, The Woman with a Hemorrhage. This is what Jesus speaks to me through it:
“My Daughter,
I see you. I see your gratitude for your family and your life. I see you loving others the best you can. I see how misunderstood you feel at times. I see you carrying all the pressures and burdens on your back. I see your discouragement, your failures, your despair, your frustrations. I know your heart. My daughter, I am so glad you came to me – give it all to me. Surrender it all to me. You are not alone. I see you and I understand you in every way.
My beloved daughter, close your eyes and see me now. Don’t turn away or rush off. I delight in giving you what you ask for, but you will find everlasting love and joy if you can take the time to see me looking at you. So close your eyes. Imagine me sitting next to you, breathing in and out. Meet my eyes and you can feel a warmth, a peace flooding your soul. Let’s rest here together. I am taking care of you, I am restoring you, and it’s going to be okay. Breathe here with me. I see you. I know you. I love you. You are not alone. Rest now, my beloved daughter.“
