I learned about the power of a Father’s blessing on their children and its history within the Old Testament. It made me wonder, “Couldn’t a mother’s blessing be powerful too?” All blessings have power in them – the gift of love and life poured into the recipient.
Since then, I have blessed my kids every night with a cross on their foreheads and say either aloud or in my mind, “God, please bless ________ with a strong faith, and love for you, and a desire to know you, to love you, and to serve you.”
Sometimes if I forget, my kids will ask for their cross.
Jesus, please continue to lead me and guide me as a mother. I trust in you. Thank you for these gentle gifts I can give my children that help strengthen their identities as your children. Amen.
