Trusting My Father

One afternoon I pushed my shopping cart around with my tired 3 year old. At checkout, she got out of the cart and laid down on the ground of the busy store. By the time I was done, she had fallen asleep, so I picked her up and laid her down in the shopping cart to take her to the car.

I remembered thinking about how much she trusted me to not leave her. It didn’t even cross her mind that I could leave her there on the floor of the store. She completely trusted me to take care of her, so she laid down, and closed her eyes to rest. As her mom, I am so grateful that she can trust me this way.

I want to trust God like this – that in all circumstances I believe, without a doubt, that He’s taking care of me. He’s attentive to me and my needs. He’ll always be there to pick me up when I’m weary, sad, lost, hurt, or discouraged. He’ll carry me when it’s hard to take the next step.

Father God, your love is unfailing. At all times, without fail, you are loving me and taking care of me. I trust that you are at my side, and ready to carry me when days are hard. May my trust in you continue to deepen and grow. Thank you for being my good Father. Amen.
