Come, and You Will See

In John 1:38, Jesus asks, “What are you looking for?”

What a great question to start this new year. What are you looking for?

I pause. Quiet. What is stirring in my heart? I desire for you to clear my path and to guide me, Lord. I desire your wisdom, your love, your peace, and your light.

In verse 38, the apostles respond to Jesus and say, “where are you staying?”

I pause. Quiet. Staying with Jesus sounds like a good place to be.

In verse 39, Jesus responds, “Come, and you will see.”

I pause. Quiet. What a gentle invitation of hope. Simple really. “Come, and you will see.” All are invited.

Yes Lord. I see you holding an open hand out to me. I come with you, and grab your hand tightly. You are the light and you will help me to see my path.

Jesus, help me to see you; and to see my life how you see it; to see my husband how you see him; to see my kids how you see them; to see my neighbors how you see them; to see friends, acquaintances, neighbors, and strangers how you see them. Teach me. Thank you for this invitation. Amen.
